When I was a Beginning Teacher, my principal once shared a story:

In the aftermath of a storm, a beach was littered with thousands of stranded starfish. A boy picked up the starfish, one at a time, and returned them back to the sea. “How could you save them all?” a passer-by asked. The boy said nothing but continued to pick up the next starfish.

“Likewise,” my principal shared, “we do our best for each child, and we do not give up on pupils who come under our charge.” Her words are an inspiration, and they remain my motto as a teacher. I strive to support every child who comes to me – to motivate and encourage him or her to work on weaknesses, and to celebrate improvements together.

As I join my experienced colleagues and continue my teaching journey with Math Mavens, I strive to continue to protect each “starfish” that comes to me. I look forward to working with your child to discover the joy of learning together!
